FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Ten Commandments Sunday can be hosted any Sunday. However, aligning it with a weekend when the readings and/or gospel have a Ten Commandments theme will have a stronger impact for your parishioners. For 2026, because of the readings and/or Gospels on these dates, the recommended Sundays/Weekends are:

  • BEST OPTION: Sat & Sun – February 14/15, 2026  (Sunday before Lent)
We have selected this as the BEST OPTION because this Sunday features the commandments in the 1st Reading, Psalm, and the Gospel.
  • Sat & Sun – February 21/22, 2026  (First Sunday of Lent)
  • Sat & Sun – May 9/10, 2026  (Sixth Sunday of Easter)
  • Sat & Sun – Sept 5/6, 2026  (Twenty-Third Sunday in ordinary time)
  • Sat & Sun – October 24/25, 2026  (Thirtieth Sunday in ordinary time)

We recommend sharing the details of Ten Commandments Sunday with your parishioners through all your normal parish communication channels. Depending on your parish, that could include website, email, social media, printed newsletters, printed bulletin, and end-of-mass announcements in the weeks leading up to Ten Commandments Sunday.

Your materials will include all the wording and visuals you need to share Ten Commandments Sunday with your parishioners, and a recommended timeline of when and how often to use each communication method.

As part of Ten Commandments Sunday, you will receive:

  • Pamphlets featuring the Ten Commandments prayer.

  • Images for framing featuring the Ten Commandments.

  • Copies of the God’s Recipe for a Wonderful Life book. (Optional)

  • Digital downloads of all content and visuals for promoting Ten Commandments Sunday.

Yes, but the cost is very minimal. There are options for $49, $99, and $199, depending on the size of your parish.

If your parish is ready to sign up today, you can do that here.

It is based on the date you chose for Ten Commandments Sunday at your parish. You will receive your materials about two months prior to your date. Materials you will receive include:

  • Pamphlets featuring the Ten Commandments prayer.

  • Images for framing featuring the Ten Commandments.

  • Copies of the God’s Recipe for a Wonderful Life book. (Optional)

  • Digital downloads of all content and visuals for promoting Ten Commandments Sunday.

We recommend that everyone attending Mass receive a copy of the pamphlet that includes the Ten Commandments Prayer, plus information on a personal faith formation program to learn the beauty of the Ten Commandments and how to apply them in daily life. The best way we have found to distribute these pamphlets is asking parish staff, ushers, volunteers, or a group like the Knights of Columbus to be at the exit doors and offer the pamphlets to parishioners as they leave.

All the other materials provided should be given to parishioners that are most interested in deepening their understanding of the Commandments. You will receive an announcement to make at the end of Mass informing parishioners there are materials on the Commandments in the narthex for them to use at home. Have the materials displayed on a table for parishioners to peruse and select. We recommend this table be hosted by parish staff, ushers, volunteers, or a group like the Knights of Columbus.

The materials should be provided free of charge. However, we recommend placing a donation basket or displaying a donation QR code on the distribution table with the materials. Those donations can help offset the parish cost of Ten Commandments Sunday.

By hosting your own Ten Commandments Sunday you would lose out on the primary benefit of Ten Commandments Sundayencouraging parishioners to engage in a personal faith formation program to help them engage more deeply with their Catholic faith, which will in turn increase Mass attendance, and therefore improve the spiritual growth and vitality of your parish community.

Parish ministries such as the Knights of Columbus, Altar Society, Men’s/Women’s groups and individual generous parishioners are often willing and eager to support programs that inspire parishioners to grow in their faith.

Also, having a donation basket or displaying a donation QR code on the distribution table with the materials can help offset the parish cost of Ten Commandments Sunday.

As part of Ten Commandment Sunday, the pamphlets parishioners take home will invite them to a FREE trial of the God’s Recipe for a Wonderful Life program – a spiritual guide to living the Ten Commandments in daily life. If they choose to continue the program after the free trial period, they can. We hope they do! It has proven to be an incredible boost for parishioners to engage more deeply in their Catholic faith and their parish community.
